Crybaby
Cry. Baby.
She don’t mean to cry.
She just do.
She don’t mean to be emotional.
She just is.She hides for you
because she values what you preach.
She is filled with passion and determination,
Yet her tears become a misinterpretation. She lives to prove
that she can change for you
Change so they don’t see her vulnerability.
Change so they don’t mistake her eagerness for pity.
Change so they don’t exterminate their faith in her abilities. She is now eighteen.
Find acceptance that
crying is not a sign of weakness,
but a sign of strength. She will not hide for you.
She will show her emotional truth.
She will CRY.Yet
no one ever really cares
or understands
the tears that a Crybaby cries. -
I want to help. I make it. I make the mad madder.
I want to see mad grow because I dont want be where sadness controls.
I dont want to be controlled in the ways I know
I crave the mad but no clue if the mad craves me
emotional
senetive
uncontrollable
mad
i dont want to be where mad gets harmful
hitting smashing uncontrollably
mad
approaching mad with caution but when do you confront
you can’’t because mad will be mad
i want nothing but the best for mad but I can’t ask mad to be there for me if mad won’t be there for themselves
I want peace with mad
i want to be in love with mad
i want mad
mad can’t see me through madness tho
see me here me love me mad
dear mad will you heed these words
dear mad will we be okay
dear mad will we learn from this
dear mad will we grow from this
dear mad will we ever say I love you
dear mad will we ever find love
I love to grow
mad I love you
mad is childish blind to the real words being heed
mad is ignorant to the truth of ignorant beings
mad is caught in believing they are in the right
are we happy together mad if we can’t go deeper into what we don’t know about ourselves
MAD IS ME
there is madness within me
I can't help what I am
BUT
must i be this mad, thing, feeling, emotion
no one tells me I must be mad
I am mad
these burdens I feel bring me to mad-ness
I am not mad
i no longer claim this mad idea
I want light and am vessel of light
all is apart of me
mad is me
this I claim. escription

To Shake
I want to shake this shakin' groove.
Out this shake. Can't you taste it?
Baby,
you keep reaching for the shake
like it's calling your name. But this shake
ain't got you in mind.See,
folks think every shaking thing
must belong to them. They taste it.
They smell it.
They swear they hear it
calling from across the room.Tell me,
how does a shake claim you
when you can't even shake it?We never rolled these hips for you.
Never bounced this booty for you.
Never loosened these joints for you.
No, baby.
Shake never walked for you.
Shake never ran for you.
Shake never cracked these knees,
never rattled these ribs,
never rumbled this earth for you.You thought movement
meant invitation.You thought rhythm
meant possession.You thought joy
must be performing itself for your eyes.Nah.
This shake got an appetite of its own.
This shake don't ask permission.
This shake existed
before you named it.Before you watched it.
Before you reached out your hand
and tried to call it yours. And when shake get to shakin',
when the floor starts answering back,
when the body remembers
what it was built to do,remember, baby:
it sure as hell
wasn't for you.
self-expression is beautiful.
I know most don’t like “the help”
but i grew up on the phrase
You is kind.
you is smart.
you is important.
My writing is an exploration of the black girls who have been seen as “Too Much” “The Emotional type” My cultivates a call to action to put some respect on the emotional Black girl name.
